Please support the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter by playing in their poker tournaments. The Sonsini Shelter cares for and finds homes for hundreds of pets every year. By playing in this tournament, you will not only be able to vie for some big prizes by pitting your poker skill against some of the best players in the Berkshires, but you’ll be helping homeless, sick and injured animals. Here are just a few of the recent stories from the Sonsini Shelter:
Ali is Worthy of
His Name
When this handsome boxer was brought to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter as a stray, he was named “Ali” after the boxing champ. Severely malnourished, Ali was put on a special diet and began to put on some weight. One day he took a turn for the worse and was rushed to the veterinary hospital. He needed emergency surgery for life-threatening intestinal problems. Ali was as much of a fighter as his namesake and pulled through. The cost of his veterinary care and rehabilitation was paid for by the Sonsini Shelter. Today, Ali has fully recovered and has been adopted into a loving home. By playing in the Ante Up for Animals you’ll help future champs like Ali.
Winston Lands
on His Feet
Winston was injured in a fall and brought to a vet to be euthanized. The vet found that Winston had broken his leg, but with a pin and weeks of rest and care, he could get better. The vet called the Sonsini Shelter and an arrangement was worked out. They would do the operation a cost the Shelter could manage. After a successful operation and a six week recovery at the Shelter, Winston was adopted to a new home! The money raised at the previous poker tournaments also helped to pay for the improvements of the Sonsini Shelter’s cat room. The needs are great at the shelter and situations like Winston’s come up all the time. Your participation in this poker tournament will really help.
Rufus Goes Home!
If you played in the other Ante Up for Animals tournaments, you probably met Rufus. After spending two years at the shelter, a happy home was found for him in July.
